          Silvano Bozzolini was born on 3 November in Fiesole, near Florence.

          He started to take an interest in painting in , when he decided to move to Milan to study at the Accademia di Brera. A few years later, from onwards, he travelled to Switzerland, Vienna and Sofia, in Bulgaria, the home of his friend the painter Vera Nedkova.

          In December and January he staged his first solo exhibition at the Casa degli italiani in Sofia.

          Bozzolini was a prominent exponent of European post-war abstraction and a founder member of the avant-garde group “Espace” that championed.
